Volunteers are at the heart of Age Concern Wellington Region’s work. Without these volunteers, hundreds of seniors across the Wellington Region wouldn’t receive a weekly visit, dozens of seniors wouldn’t go out for a weekly walk, and many more seniors would miss out on other great social connections. These volunteers give hours and hours of their time, year after year.
We are so grateful for each one of our volunteers. At Christmas time, we usually have a small party to thank these volunteers, and at the end of 2021 we had two Wine and Cheese parties. One was held at The Dowse in Lower Hutt, and the other was held at our Patron Lady Susan Satyanand’s house. Lady Susan and her husband, former Governor General The Right Honourable Sir Anand Satyanand GNZM QSO KStJ, graciously hosted the event.
Over the years, fast friendships have formed not only between volunteers and clients, but also between volunteers. The laughter present at these gatherings is a testament to the joy that these volunteers bring to our Region’s seniors.
